AW: vrf Upgrade from VEE6.2 to 8.0 slowes down my applications

Question asked by VRFuser on Oct 29, 2007

Hi Dietmar, some hints - but not sure if it helps in your special case.

1. Assuming the slow down is coming from Vee8 itself : go to prefs and unmark the code insight things, and mark the disable debug feature.
2. Assuming the slow down is coming from "new" Visa: there is an option to use "legacy" visa and sicl.
But the correct answer for this is a task of VEE task force;-)

Betreff: [vrf] Upgrade from VEE6.2 to 8.0 slowes down my applications

Hi there,
I graded up our Agilent VEE to version 8.0 and installed the latest IO-library. The old VEE software, written in version 6.2 is working fine whit this new setup. In the Instrument manager my serial interfaces are called like "Serial1(Legacy)" and the connected devices like "DSP(@1)". This is the SICL notation from the past. In the new version I can add only new instruments over VISA, like "ASRL1" with the Instrument "DSP(@ASRL1::DSP::INSTR).
To have an consistent way of programming, I changed this old instruments (and their Calls) in the new VISA syntax and start an test.
It works, but the new VISA slows the communication extremely down, and it seems the speed is depending on the processor-load from the other running applications on the executing PC.
How can I avoid this? How can I reach the same speed like before?

Thanks for your help.

Best Regards,
Dietmar
