Hello,
Here's my setup:
-E3646A
-Serial cable hooked up to an FTDI serial-to-USB adapter hooked up to my laptop
-Using Minicom as my terminal
-9600 baud rate, no parity, 2 stop bits
When I start up the unit, nothing pops up on the terminal, and I'm not able to type anything. However, there are combinations of keys I can press to get an error on the unit, so I know there's at least signals going to unit. However, there's no prompt on the terminal. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jake

So I downloaded cutecom, and was able to successfully transmit commands over RS-232 to the E3646A. However, I'm not getting anything back when I type a query (e.g. 'VOLT?'). If I try to issue another command right afterwards, I get an error, type 410, 'QUERY INTERRUPTED'. I read in another forum post something at DTR/DSR handshaking. Obviously the buffer to send information back is not being cleared successfully. This seems like it should be pretty basic, I've gotten some knock-off Chinese instruments to work without having to do anything special...
