before I had an 33220A - and I liked the handling/operating very much.
Recently I got the new 33521A (Firmware 1.12) - and instantly I got disappointed!
Here a list - major to minor - what I don't like (suggestion for Improvements!):
- The time reqiured to boot up the instrument is very(!) long! - Even longer than XP takes on my computer!!!!
- The sound created by the cooling fan is too loud and annoying after short time! - Not temperature controlled: Always maximum speed.
- The colours of icons for settings that are not active is dark grey on light grey - In all windows software this is used for unavailable menus.
1st: It is more difficult to recognize; 2nd: A lot of users will be confused in the beginning.
- The green LED underneath ON/OFF-switch is lit although instrument is turned off - confusing.
- Poor web interface: The possibilities of the computer are not utilized (Waveform and Modulation on the same page, etc.)
Major Improvements (my opinion):
+ Output is switched off automatically if overvoltage is applied to the output (this damaged 2x 33120A severely)
+ Possibility to set output limits (especially helpful if sensitive low voltage digital is driven)
+ Possibility for firmware updates
