Hello,
I am new to gpib programming, and am trying to control aiglent source meter 66332a model. i used VOLT <value> , :MEAS:CURR? commands over a GPIB PCI interface. After a day of usage the meter is not supplying any voltage. it has gone to prot mode and displaying err on the display. Can you please tell me if there is such a possibility where these commands can disturb the hardware ? i am using NI VISA. Thanks in advance.

I answered your question in the other forum about the protect, so we can discuss that there but to answer your question here, but to answer your question here, there is no reason for those commands to disturb your power supply provided that:
1. There are no syntax errors (this could cause the err to light up).
2. The voltage that you are setting is not above the over voltage limit set on the power supply.
3. The power supply is not set so that it will go into CC mode with the over current protection on.
If you meet these criteria, you should be able to send these commands as many times as you want.
