vrf General help for Excel-ActiveX-was: Add a sheet in Excel with VEE - Vee7.5

Question asked by detlef.baranski on Nov 21, 2005
Hello Bertram and VRF,

if you do not get an answer, just ask again and again .
Sometimes people do get direct help and solution without sending it to the
VRF-list.
Therefore you do not know if somebody got the help.
And after a while its forgotten...

Best solution:
---At the end it would be nice to send the solution always to vrf, too ! ---
---

Here are some basic rules for working with activeX -stuff. (Vee7.5)
(I do not learn these, too ).

Look for the examples.
In Case of excel library:
Make your sceleton via excel-lib.
For special things just record a macro of the thing you want to do in Excel.

Then you have 3 big choices:

1) start the macro within Excel itself via VEE - look for example
ExcelLibrary/Miscellaneous/Macro.vee ( similar thing can be done in earlier
versions , too)

2) start the Macro from VEE itself - look for the example
ExcelLibrary/Miscellaneous/CreateVBAMacro.( its more or less copy (from
excel macro) and paste( to vee formular box))

3)  copy the macro to a VEE formula box and make some changes ..like
xlapp.xxx and  ":="   to "=" and "For each"  to etc......

So at the end you will learn VBA a little bit without any external help
needed...

In the example I sent you I put the macro in the  notepad...

You know how to record a macro within Excel ?

All these things are also a must have as a  Video Lesson from Agilent [ if I
would be a marketing guy ]!

Best regards,
detlef

Thank you very much, Detlef.

I never expected a working solution or even a responseafter this long
period of time. Actually I could not solve this problem for myself, because
I never learned this Visual Basic and Active X stuff. So I gave up after a
little while and created my Excel folder in advance and then accessed it
with the VEE 7.5 Excel Tools.

But your solution works well and is exactly what I need!

Bertram

A little bit late, but here is one possible solution for you
Everything can be done smaller in just one formularbox for sure ...

Betreff: [vrf] Add a sheet in Excel with VEE

Hello VRF,
I need to add a new data sheet of type "master.xlt" in an existing EXCEL
file "zzz.xls". I wrote the appended program "testexcel.vee" with VEE7.5.
But it does not work. It produces an error as in "error.jpg". Can anybody
help?
Thanks
Bertram
