Subject: [vrf] CAN for Dummies

I want to implement CAN into an up coming project. Although I have very little experience with CAN I hope to learn.

I looking for some opinions on CAN card manufactures and their drivers.
I have found that Vector and Softing have a pretty good presence out there.

Has anyone found any one manufacturer to stand out more than a other when working with CAN and VEE?
I'll be working with VEE 7.5. on Win2K/XP.

For my application I will be using the Silicon Labs C8051F061 Microcontroller on boards I'll be developing.

Also, could anyone recommend any books or URL's that they have found to be good in learning fundamental CAN theory.

Thanks in advance for your time and opinion.
