vrf Reading function results from excel

Question asked by VRFuser on Aug 5, 2007
Dennis,

The Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code in Excel Macros would be Range(“A1”).Value which returns the value of the cell A1.

Now, from memory you can use VBA script in VEE to achieve the same result, I think it might be xlApp.Range(“A1”).Value in a VEE Formula Box.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Gary

Subject: [vrf] Reading function results from excel

Hello,

I have a cell in excel that uses the bin2hex and concatenate functions to assemble a string.  When I try to read in the result of the formula, a text string, into VEE 8.0 I do not get the text that I see when I look at an excel sheet.  When I use "Get data from cells" I receive the formula as a text string, not the formula result.  When I use "Get Data-Evaluate Cell Formula" VEE returns a number (-2146826273) rather than the expected string.  Is VEE treating the string as the numerical representation of each ASCII character?  I need to find a way to import the formula result which is non-numeric.  Is there a way around this?

Thank you for any helpful suggestions you may have.

Regards,

Dennis
