I do not know if you have access to this example ( Vee 6 perhaps ? )
But in the example folder there is ExcelAsDatabase.vee what I think does
exactly what you want ?
Should run on VEE 5 also...
On the other hand you can start a macro in excel via vee- should be faster
to get the result then when using large numbers.

Hi,
Does anyone have an Active X example of how to search the first column of an
Excel sheet for a text string . My customer has 1300 rows of test parameter
dataand I need to identify the specific row by its unique text string in
the first row of each column.
I do have Vee code which works fine for this but I wrote it about 8 years
ago and used the DDE function rather than Active X. WhenI used it I only
had about 20 rows of data.
I am using VEE 5.01
