vrf record sort

That looks like a record whose first field is a record that contains an
array. OTOH rec[0].A.A is a single record of a record array specifying the
first member of the first member of the dereferenced record.

Either way, I see what you mean. "A.A" does not fly. Nor does "A.B". If you
want to have some fun with a VSE, change it to "A" or "B". That *REALLY*
doesn't fly!

In fact if you try to define a record constant, "record" is not a valid
field choice, although we've all used record fields for years.
