Sfefan,
You need to do two things:
First, close the Excel application.
Second, turn the Debug function off.... I think...I did this away back and
Can not remember the details. If it don't work. Try to turn the Debug
function on.

Han

Hi,
I asked this question a short while ago. Let me just explain why this was
a problem. The Excel.exe remaining in the process list appears to lock-out
any .xls file you opened using your Vee program. You need to kill the
Excel.exe before you can modify such .xls files.

Yes.
> i think kill process isn't the right way.
You're right. It can be mean and nasty. If you have any system-wide hooks
installed by Excel it will definitely crash the system. Any system objects
that are not automatically cleaned up that were allocated by any dll Excel
loads will leak. Usually it's perfectly ok to kill a process as long as you
know Win32 will clean up after it (there aren't too many objects that aren't
automatically cleaned up).
> does any better solutions exists????
Yes. Since you're using O2K, you have version 9. The improper ref count was
fixed, and so this version works right. The really really right way to get
it to quit is to close whatever you're working on and destroy any and all
references to any Excel automation objects that VEE is holding.
That's not always so easy to do, so the next best thing to do is to send
WM_CLOSE to the main window. Probably the easiest way to do that is to start
a shell scripting object, switch to Excel with AppActivate("Microsoft
Excel") and then SendKeys("%{F4}"). Set DisplayAlerts=False first so you
don't get a save warning if you haven't saved the document.
The next easiest thing to do is use FindWindow to find a window handle of
class XLMAIN and SendMessage(hWnd, WM_CLOSE, 0, 0).
Actually, the really easiest thing to do is use VEE 7. The Process class has
a member method called Close that will handle it.
