I was under the impression that VEE 7.5 IS Win 98 compatible with the addition of a DLL (?) to handle DDE exchange between window apps. I'm told, although I have not yet checked, that this add on is available from Agilent. Is this correct?

Well no. Although I'm not absolutely sure, I think I can claim to be 99 & 44/100 percent sure at least... a GINA has to be compiled. It's not entirely out of the question, but I sure wouldn't want to have to test it. If anything goes wrong the computer becomes a doorstop until Windows is reinstalled.
That of course assumes you mean one that really works. Something that only *looks* like it really works would be pretty easy to come up with.
Then again, simply using authentication isn't all that difficult either, although there are requirements to keep the system secure.
In general you can run a process whose purpose is to authenticate users & launch other processes, but it doesn't run in the system account. That brings us back to the GINA.
You can read all about authentication at: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/secauthn/se curity/authentication_functions.asp (one line) -SHAWN-

Has any one got an example of a log in console written Vee that emulates the methodology of a Microsoft password protected log-in?
