vrf command lines, knobs and Character format

Question asked by VRFuser on Apr 9, 2005
This may seem like a bit of a simple question, but here goes.

I want to use a **** to create a variable number and then insert this into a
constant command line, which will later be sent via the Direct I/O.

Another problem I have is that I receive a string of bytes.  I have managed
to extract the appropriate variables from this string, however these bytes
need to be converted into ascii by means of the IntToChar command.  This
is because the Bytes represent an integer, which is then effectively looked
up in the ASCII table, which then gives a number.
Is there any way of getting VEE to convert a number to ASCII without it
ending up in Char format ?
