vrf Again VEE Error 801 (forgot to cc VRF

Question asked by VRFuser on Nov 18, 2003

Hello to all,

i'm not actually sure how to analyze dr. watson's data and be able to
search resolutions over the internet. but i can tell you another way how to
go about going further to search what cause the error:

the only way to find the details on what cause the error is to run the
program within NT base OS (NT/2K/XP) and have event viewer catch the error.
from the event viewer (start -> RUN -> eventvwr -> OK) you can extract the
said error (be it system, application or security errors) and search for it
using the site http://www.eventid.net and from the link you can search by
event ID or copy the entire error and use this link
http://www.eventid.net/parseevent.asp -> copy and paste the entire event
error to the box provided from the link.  this will tell you what cause the
said error or even fix it, and isolate which is which, if VEE or windows
caused the event. also you can use the microsoft knowledge base site:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;KBHOWTO -> for more
information as well as resolutions if there is.

Hello Hans and all

We have had some strange errors which we could not figure out.

One error occured when unloading a library when it had an ActiveX Control
with VB Command Buttons on a panel, and only if one of these Command
Buttons
had focus (was highlighted).  We found that if it did not have focus it
would behave fine.  Otherwise, VEE would crash and would produce a Dr.
Watson error.  We used a pop-up message box with the smallest timeout
possible ('1f' I think) to remove focus from the Command Buttons and this
solved the problem.

Another error occurred when starting our test system.  If a used entered
their full name (in a VEE text box), about 12 chars, the program would
crash
with a Dr Watson error, but if the user only entered 2 characters, it would
work fine.  I suspect it was a funny DLL and header file combination.  It
fixed itself??? but was a consistent problem.

Hope this makes you feel better, strange things DO happen.

Dear all, especially those at Agilent,

thanks to all who gave me hints. Unfortunately the problem still is not
solved.

I kindly ask Agilent to evaluate my problem!

Betreff: VEE Error 801

Dear VEE experts,

I designed a quite complex VEE program using VEE 6.02. It runs nicely using
the development environment. It runs as well in production since several
months using the runtime version, however termination / abortion of the
program causes a VEE error 801 with subsequent Dr. Watson; see the screen
dump in the attached pdf document. (The pdf file and the Error801.vee file
are in a zip archive as very often pdf files attached to an e-mail are
corrupted).

The VEE program contains an initialization StartUp User Object, a MainLoop
User Object and a ShutDown User Function; see attached Error801.vee file.
The MainLoop User Object consists of three UntilBreak loops. One is for
normal operation of subsequent tasks, and the other two are for termination
and abortion.

The indicated instrument B725 is not called in the ShutDown User Function.

The error 801 occurs in both cases, i.e. termination (F12) and abortion
(F11).

Do you have any ideas on what is the reason for the error 801 that occurs
only in the runtime version? I already was in contact with the Agilent
hotline in The Netherlands, but without any success.

Kind regards
Hans-Joachim Fischer
