Hello all,
How can I release VEE's hold on the serial ports while it's still running? I'm sure I've seen this asked before, but I believe the answer was to use Execute Close, and this doesn't work for me.
I'm trying to send some ascii data over a serial port, and then switch to a Modbus OCX to send data over the same port, but the OCX won't initialize because the port is in use by VEE.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have a PC here which has one rs232 port, and 2 rs422 ports. When I search
for instruments in the instrument manager auto discovery area, it finds 4
configured interfaces. The 4th, being a GPIB14. This is not the problem.
The problem is, I have another PC identical to mine with only one rs232 port
and VEE only finds the configured GPIB interface on that PC, no COM ports.
And the main PC I am dealing with now has 3 RS-232 COM ports (and a GPIB
interface) and VEE finds only the GPIB when I do an 'auto discovery' My
program produces an error when I try to talk to one of these COM ports.
Can anyone tell me how to set up my COM ports so that VEE will find them? I
don't know what the differences are between what's going on in my PC and
what is up with the other 2.
Thanks so much,
Rob Bonino
