vrf Interface Operations Object

Question asked by warren.pickles on Apr 22, 2003
I just found an example under Help...Open Examples, then look in the
InstrumentIO folder and open DynamicFindInterfaces.vee.  This program
discovers all configured interfaces, and their select codes.
That should do what I was trying to do.  Haven't really looked at it yet -
due to pressures of time (just for a change) I'm going to go with the quick
and dirty solution of storing the GPIB number in a file on the local hard
drive.  Also I think this was functionality added when they released VEE 6,
and some of my stations still operate under VEE 5.

Subject: [vrf] Interface Operations Object

When you put an Interface Operations object on the workspace, you have to
select the interface from a list of interfaces that are configured on the
host computer.  The interface used for that object is then hard-coded; it
isn't read in from the vee.io file in the way that instrument addresses are,
and you can't add a control input pin for which interface to use.  The same
goes for the Interface Event object.

What can I do if I want to create a program that contains an Interface
Operations object and must run on two different target systems, with
different configured interfaces?  For example, one system has the GPIB
interface at GPIB6 and the other system has it at GPIB7?

Is there a way of programmatically determining which interface is active?

Thanks
