device is set to IEEE488 not 488.2. Also go to the plug and play driver tab
and uncheck the Perform ID query, and Perform Reset boxes. These are enabled
by default, and Vee could be sending the ID query and/or resetting the
device and it hangs because it does not understand the commands. To verify
this, bring up a GPIB monitor window and look at all the commands sent
across the bus before your program gets to your first Direct I/O statement.

command "lg" using direct I/O it does not work, but when done from UNIX it
works.
It might be something about faster computer and faster GPIB connection
(USB) compared to older HP 745 UX as Kathy said. But where to put delay if
I send just one command?
