Hi Gregg and the vrf,

We're finally getting a few spare minutes to respond to your question. We hope the power situation is getting back to normal for you and others in the huge swathe it cut. Does anyone know if Winnipeg, Manitoba got hit? The one map Scott saw seemed to indicate it did, but it was kind of near the edge of the picture, hard to tell.

We selected locations for this first round of VEE Days based on expected attendance. The 11 sites we chose appeared to offer the best chances of large audiences.

"Audience" isn't really the right word. I think "participants" is a better choice, because we really want to promote fun and useful two-way communication with you all. We'll be available to you as much as possible at each event. Nic and I both hope to show up at at least one of the locations, and there are VEE R&D engineers at most (all?) of the events.

But notice that I said "first round". If we get as much participation as we hope at these first-round locations, we intend to do further rounds. Don't forget that we started in Germany and the U.K., and intend to get back to Europe for more rounds when we can. We're also covering Asia with a modified event, tuned to the participants there. We're serious about VEE Days.

But if you look really carefully, you'll see that right at the bottom of the cities list on < www.agilent.com/find/vrfveedays > there's a titled "Suggest a Location for VEE Days". I've asked the webmaster to separate that link from the cities list to make it a bit more visible. Go there and place your vote. I hear talk in the hallways around here about which cities are leading the race; your responses *will* have a strong influence on our plans!

Don't be afraid to make suggestions if you're not in the USA. We really want to find out where we can get good participation for VEE Days anywhere that Agilent does business. Right now the web form for suggesting locations requires entering a US state, but I'm requesting that that be changed so VEE users anywhere can enter their votes easily.

Please understand that requesting a location doesn't guarantee that we'll be able to run a VEE Days there. Before we can commit, we will need to be confident that the trip will be worth while, and that means there has to be a good population of interested VEE users in the area. By submitting your request, you can improve your chances, however, so don't hesitate to suggest alternate locations.

Best Regards,

Nicole Dierksheide
