vrf Runtime bits and other VRF stuff

Question asked by VRFuser on Aug 9, 2002
Scott,

Thanks very much for putting the RunTime bits out there quickly
and for being considerate to put both 6.01 and 6.1 versions.

Regarding the VRF. I still believe (like I mentioned in our last
phone conversation) that for the long term, as the popularity of
VEE continues to grow, the email based VRF will be just too much
mail for professionals to deal with and still get their work done.

Ultimately, a WEB based or USENET based discussion forum will
be better suited for a larger user group. I just hope that when
that time comes, we can have a little better forum to move to
than what the ADN offers us now. Many companies now rely on
USENET to provide technical support Q&A's for their customer
base. They routinely post a common list of FAQs for the benefit
of newbies to get up to speed. If allowed, attachments can be
submitted similar to what happens now. I agree with Jeff's post
that comp.lang.vee would be appropriate (and put it right near
comp.lang.labview).

At my company, we currently don't have an nntp server available,
but groups.google.com is not blocked, so I could participate
that way.

I don't know what the RIGHT answer is. But you might consider
USENET along with whatever "register to play" forum you offer.
It would get VEE out in the public domain more and might just
attract a few more customers in the process that are frustrated
with languages like LabView and are looking for alternatives.

Just my $0.02 (again) on the topic.

Yes, unfortunately, Search is broken on the ADN. We're fixing it, but I
don't have a date for you.

I'm glad it was relatively easy to locate once you had the starting point.
