vrf Using National GPIB with VEE via IO libraries remote gate

Question asked by VRFuser on Nov 26, 2001
Hi Mike,

I have been unable to get it working.   It seems to me they want us to buy
Agilent GPIB cards!

What seems strange is the IO libraries require national GPIB drivers to be
1.50 or higher. (I tried using a GPIB-USB-A, that ships with a different
GPIB different driver at revision 1.1, and the IO libraries refused to work
with it. With a NI PCMCIA GPIB with version 1.60 driver the IO libraries no
longer complained, but simply didn't work)

I don't typically install the IO libraries unless I am using serial or LAN,
as VEE seems to communicate with the NI GPIB driver directly.
I wonder if they simply have a bug and have not fixed it. Why else would the
IO libraries care what revision the NI GPIB driver is, since it is not
supported?

Thanks for the information.

Regards,
Joe Flynn

Joe,

Sorry to let you down.  Last I talked to Agilent, the remote gateway
feature is only supported if you use an Agilent(HP) GPIB card.  Went round
and round this summer trying to get it to work with a NI card, and found
this out.

Please let me know if this is wrong.  I have many NI cards and would like
to use them as remote gateways and not have to buy yet another interface
card.
