Hi Tom,
       I think you could do this either with the not-much-publicised To
String object, which is a great way of formatting data just as you want it
before sending to instruments, printers, displays etc.  Otherwise you can
use the intToChar function e.g.
[Formula object]    "fred" + intToChar(10) + "was here"
embeds a linefeed inbetween 'fred' and 'was here'.  BTW, if you want a list
of ascii characters there's a useful table in the help files: use the Index
tab and type in 'ascii'.
