Hi
I need an extra rs232 port on my laptop supported by HPVee. Will
HPVEE/IOLibraries recognize an USB to RS232 converter as an extra RS232
port??

If it works, tear it apart and find out why!

I've recently integrated the SMTP sendmail library provided with Vee 5.0
into a large program. This allows me to send mail when certain system
events occur where it's beneficial to inform someone. However, to take full
advantage of this new feature, I'd like to be able to send mail or even log
to a file, the information that is displayed on the screen during a run-time
error such as this:
<<...OLE_Obj...>>
In this particular example, I could just put an error output on this
particular If/Then/Else and send the mail, but there are thousands of object
with the possibility of error. My goal is not to keep the runtime errors
from happening by using error outputs but rather to trap the error and
understand fully how to put in a programming/logic fix the will prevent the
runtime error permanently. What I'm asking is if it is possible to always
capture the information listed like UserFunction, Object title and error
message. I just want a way to capture the info before it shuts down like a
global "on error" or something like that. Users have a tendency to just
clear the errors and not read or write down the message. "I got the red
error message", doesn't go far when debugging.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
