vrf pinging

Question asked by VRFuser on Apr 3, 2002
This issue is entered into our defect database.  Unfortunately, it is not
easy to fix.  Bill's below recommendation is a possible workaround.
Thank you,

I just ran a test program and left a dialog box open for about half an hour.
I heard one beep at about 20 minutes, but that was all.

If there are jsut one or two places in your program where this is a problem,
how about putting a timeout on the dialog box? The timeout pin could send
the program into some safe or restartable state. For example, put the dialog
box in an Until Break loop. Use of the dialog box breaks the loop, but the
timeout pin pops up a panel with a message and OK button.

I have a VEE program that prompts the user to enter the serial number of the
unit they are testing.  If the operator does not enter a serial number
within approximately 10 minutes the computer starts to beep e.g. an audible
bell is heard from the computers speaker about once a second.
I didn't put this into the program and was wondering if this is something
automatic with VEE.  Has anybody else experienced this ?
