Â
On the other hand, in LV any time you make a sub-vi (like a Userfunction or userObject in VEE),
it gets created in a separate file. So even a small program may consist of several files (in addition
to LV runtime). In order to keep track of everything an install package is needed. VEE keeps
everything in one file (until you start doing more complicated things).

I have asked for this feature as a product enhancement for VEE a long time ago. Has anything been done?

I was speaking to a colleague yesterday about programming. Concerning test automation, he said if he wanted to do testing quickly in a real world condition he would do it in VEE, on the other hand if he had to send it to a customer he would do it in LabView. His reason is that LV has a dump on CD,  one click install runtime-program, and walk away.

I agree with this - LV Application builder makes the business of sending out a usable app trouble free - in the past I have tried functions (built and debugged) using VEE in order to test some logic/program flow rapidly but then built the user version of the same thing is C or VB. I guess were back to the 'programming languages are different tools' thing. VEE 8 maybe??
