vrf Red Screen of Death problems - any solutions?

Question asked by mark.goldberg on Nov 4, 2003
VRFer's refer to is a BRB - Big Red Box. Version 7 will change it the BGB -
Big Grey Box as I understand it.

We like to call them BRB's -- or The VEE About Box

All,

I've been having lots of trouble over the past year with what I call the red
screen of death.  It's the VEE Serious error which doesn't tell you much but
prevents you from saving the file as the same name and sometimes prevents
you from saving your file at all.

Attached is the screenshot of the error.  It's not always #999, but it is
always one of those high numbers which the help says to call Agilent about.
It appears from the limited information that it's got something to do with
the NI GPIB card I use.

My system runs VEE 6.01 and I generally use 2 RS-232 ports + 1 GPIB port.

I cannot replicate this problem outside of one of my large programs so debug
is really frustrating.  I can't even reliably reproduce it, and once it
occurs, that's it for debug.  I've got to close and re-open VEE.  I don't
have these problems on smaller programs generally and see it come and go as
a part of the larger program.  I do not use any ActiveX or discreet DLL
calls in this program and while they're loaded, I don't use the PnP drivers
for any of the instruments (because they gave me these kind of errors far
more frequently).

Does anyone see these issues and has anyone got a solution?

Thanks,
Josh
