The main program is a translator. We are moving some information
(specifications) that were kept in tables in text documents into a
database. All kinds of 'texty' things need to be modified. E.g.,
sometimes quotes were used in a column to replicate an entry down. So one
part of the translator was to check a table element. If the entry
consisted just of blanks and a quote symbol, the progrm needed to replace
the entry with the field above. The killer, as I mentioned, was that what
looked like a quote was ascii 147.
