Hi Scott et al.,
Thanks for the reply. I kind of thought this might be the case with the
to/from socket thing. I do have it working with the UDP sockets in VEE 6.0
but with the ActiveX calls to MSWinsock. We were thinking of testing
communications via TCP anyway since UDP doesn't have error checking. If
anyone is interested in seeing how I did it with ActiveX/UDP let me know and
I'll send you a copy of my code (it's really small and simple).
Best,
Karen

Hi Karen and vrf,
As far as I know, VEE cannot handle UDP sockets, only TCP. I think you're
going to need to use TCP as the base protocol in order for VEE to
participate.
Best regards,

I'm trying to use the to/from socket object to send and receive data from a
remote machine. I set the "connect" host to the proper value (i.e., 5500),
and enter the correct ip address of the remote computer. Then I set the
"bind" host (my computer) to 5500, and my ip address. I then try to execute
a simple "write text" operation, but it doesn't find the remote host.
I know all the hardware along the way is working because we were able to
communicate (slightly flakey, but it worked a few times) via ActiveX
(MSWinsock). We just can't get it to work using the to/from socket object.
We are using UDP, not TCP - is that the problem?
Thanks much.
Karen
