vrf AW: Minimimze Window on Second PC (Tek7000 series scope

Question asked by VRFuser on Nov 27, 2003
Hi Shawn,

Seems, that you understood correctly. The Tek7000 series are win2k PCs. But
we are controlling the sope part of this PCs from another PC via GPIB (We
need this as our control PC can also access an old 694C Scope which is not
PC based). And on the Scope PC Jitter3 is in forground, but we would like to
minimize it as we need to take a screenshot of the Scope application.

The screenshot is taken by the screenshot functionallity of the Scope
application, saved internally, and transferred over GPIB to the second PC.
We do have only GPIB connection between the two PCs (due to compatibility
issue with the older scopes).(if we give up our older scopes we would use
LAN what would make things MUCH easier ...). But so far also the old scope
with no LAN is also required.

As this program is part of an automated measurement programm we would like
not to have any human input....

I would assume, that we need to use some standalone utility on the scope PC,
which can be controlled by GPIB and is able to access windows functions for
minimzing the JAVA application .... Sounds not very nice....

Thanks

Hermann

I think I didn't quite understand:

VEE is controlling a scope, Jitter3 is acquiring data, and they're on
different PCs. You're generating a screen shot of something off the PC
running Jitter3 and it keeps putting itself on top of whatever you're trying
to screen shoot. Is that it?

What is it that's generating the screen shot? Presumably some kind of
programming facility. A batch file run at intervals by the scheduler? Or
some other kind of script? If it's a human, Detlef has got it - Alt-Tab and
screen shoot.
