I'm glad to see you finally made it over from the dark side. <wink>
You might want to check out what has been craftfully pulled together on
the http://www.preciselyso.co.uk/ website for tips and helps. There's a
lot of information there on many different aspects of VEE. Certainly
something for everyone.
The other resource you should not overlook are the many examples that
ship with the VEE product. These little "snippets" are organized by
subject and always have notes inside that explain how they work.
There are some that have many years of VRF archives. I have only kept
what I felt are things that pertain to what I need and it's no small
archive in itself. Personally, I would think a complete VRF archive
would be very tedious to try and read through, but that's just me.
Cheers!

Subject: [vrf] Looking for VEE resources, such as this VRF mailing list
Hello all,
I am a brand new member of this list, as well as a brand new user of VEE
6.01. I have a question or two about this VRF mailing list and any other
available VEE resources (see next paragraph). My RF ATE programming
experience before using VEE is with NI's LabWindows/CVI, MS-Visual C++, and
NI-TestStand. I have used those tools extensively since the mid-1990's.
One of my roles here at BAE is to help work towards any level of code
integration of with all these programming tools, because they are all in
heavy use here in my department, but they are each part of their own
"islands" of capability. For example, I am just now starting to carve out
and compile existing C code so that I may integrate that as DLLs to operate
in VEE, and now I'm beginning to learn more about the possibility of carving
out some of our VEE code sections so that they could be accessed via
TestStand 3.0 (I'm told by NI this can be done via the ActiveX or RPC
control of VEE from TestStand).
The question is: Is there anyone out there who has compiled a list of VEE
resources for a new VEE programmer to draw on? One good answer to that
question might save a lot of stupid questions on this list in the future
from new users like me.
So far, it seems that this mailing list is the only useful VEE resource out
there, but I've only spent a few hours searching out for this information.
And I'm a firm believer in "RTFM", but the manuals in VEE 6.01 can only
carry you so far with the stuff I'm trying to do, so I'm looking for more
info on these topics, and I'm hoping it exists. I also noticed that there
have been recent discussions about the new VEE 7.x and .NET, which are both
of interest to me. I have not yet used .NET for ATE, and I'm wondering how
well VEE 7.x performs in this area.
So, assuming this is the only up-to-date VEE resource worthy of a VEE
programmer's attention, then how do I "go back" in time on this VRF mailing
list to review previous technical discussions? Commands that I've sent to
the Lyris "VRF" listserver to pull down any archived contributions to this
mailing list did not return anything, and I used the Lyris web site
documentation to make sure I was querying it correctly. Are they archived
on another server somewhere? If not, does someone have their own personal
archive collection of these mailings that could be zipped and uploaded to me
on some FTP server someday (I'll set it up if that's the case). I don't
mind if it's a huge file that goes back years.
Thanks for any help,
DAB
