vrf Direct IO Error 601

Question asked by wwdyer on May 16, 2004
Does the box want to see the text representation of the hex value 1E or is it really expecting the actual binary value of 1E (which is a ctrl^, ASCII control character RS, record separator). If it want the actual binary 1E then you should be using a WRITE BYTE 0x1e which will output the correct control character.

Yep, your right.  That worked for me.  The equipment didn't respond as
expected, but the logger port says it received the command.

that's exactly what I figured- the 1E is being interpreted as a real
value and the syntax is indeed incorrect for a real value.

1e1   will not error since it is indeed correct syntax

If you are trying to write the string "1E" to your instrument then
put "1E"  (not 1E) in the data field
