The GPIB   card in your old pc must remain configured as the Controller. There can be   only one controller on the bus; all other devices are talkers and listeners.   When you attach your new computer, the GPIB card must first be configured as   talker/listener. You do that during your initial setup of the card in   software, one of the settings you are asked to configure is “board is system   controller”, enter “NO” in this location. What this does is when your new   computer wants to send a command to another piece of equipment on the buss, it   must ask permission of the old computer (controller), it does this   automatically and with out your intervention. You can do this with multiple   computers, as long as only one is controller, you can send commands and   transfer data from any device to any device, computer or instrument. Hope this   helps</SPAN></FONT></P>  <P class=MsoNormal><FONT face=Arial color=navy size=2><SPAN   style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"></SPAN></FONT> </P>  <P class=MsoNormal><FONT face=Arial color=navy size=2><SPAN   style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">Doug   Cote</SPAN></FONT></P>  <P class=MsoNormal><FONT face=Arial color=navy size=2><SPAN   style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"></SPAN></FONT> </P>  <P class=MsoNormal><FONT face=Arial color=navy size=2><SPAN   style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"></SPAN></FONT> </P>  <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN-LEFT: 0.5in"><FONT face=Tahoma size=2><SPAN   style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Tahoma">-----Original   Message-----<BR><B><SPAN style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">From:</SPAN></B> Deblancq   Stijn [mailto:Stijn.Deblancq@Advantra.com] <BR><B><SPAN   style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Sent:</SPAN></B> Wednesday, April 28, 2004 1:55   AM<BR><B><SPAN style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">To:</SPAN></B> VRF<BR><B><SPAN   style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Subject:</SPAN></B> [vrf] using 2 PC's on same GPIB   bus</SPAN></FONT></P>  <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN-LEFT: 0.5in"><FONT face="Times New Roman"   size=3><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt"></SPAN></FONT> </P>  <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN-LEFT: 0.5in"><FONT face="Times New Roman"   size=2><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt">Hello</SPAN></FONT></P>  <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN-LEFT: 0.5in"><FONT face="Times New Roman"   size=3><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt"></SPAN></FONT> </P>  <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN-LEFT: 0.5in"><FONT face="Times New Roman"   size=2><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt">I want to upgrade my test equipment here   with a new pc and usb-gpib convertor.</SPAN></FONT></P>  <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN-LEFT: 0.5in"><FONT face="Times New Roman"   size=3><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt"></SPAN></FONT> </P>  <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN-LEFT: 0.5in"><FONT face="Times New Roman"   size=2><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt">I still want to use the old pc with old   software used in production.</SPAN></FONT></P>  <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN-LEFT: 0.5in"><FONT face="Times New Roman"   size=3><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt"></SPAN></FONT> </P>  <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN-LEFT: 0.5in"><FONT face="Times New Roman"   size=2><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt">Can i put both pc's on the bus at the   same time or will this influence my tests?</SPAN></FONT></P>  <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN-LEFT: 0.5in"><FONT face="Times New Roman"   size=3><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt"></SPAN></FONT> </P>  <P style="MARGIN-LEFT: 0.5in"><B><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=green   size=2><SPAN style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: green">Stijn   Deblancq</SPAN></FONT></B><B><FONT color=black size=2><SPAN   style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: black"><BR>ADVANTRA   INTERNATIONAL</SPAN></FONT></B></P>  <P style="MARGIN-LEFT: 0.5in"><B><FONT face="Times New Roman" color=black   size=2><SPAN style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: black">Software   Engineer</SPAN></FONT></B><FONT color=black size=2><SPAN   style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: black"><BR></SPAN></FONT><FONT face=Wingdings   color=black size=2><SPAN   style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: black; FONT-FAMILY: Wingdings">(</SPAN></FONT><FONT   color=silver size=2><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: silver">   </SPAN></FONT><B><FONT color=black size=2><SPAN   style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: black">Work Tel#:   </SPAN></FONT></B><B><FONT color=blue size=2><SPAN   style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: blue">+32 (0)   56-23.94.42</SPAN></FONT></B><FONT color=black size=1><SPAN   style="FONT-SIZE: 7.5pt; COLOR: black"><BR></SPAN></FONT><B><FONT   face=Wingdings color=black><SPAN   style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold; COLOR: black; FONT-FAMILY: Wingdings">+</SPAN></FONT></B><FONT   color=black size=1><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 7.5pt; COLOR: black">   </SPAN></FONT><U><FONT color=black><SPAN style="COLOR: black">mailto: <A   href="mailto:stijn.deblancq@advantra.com">stijn.deblancq@advantra.com</A></SPAN></FONT><FONT   color=navy><SPAN style="COLOR: navy"> </SPAN></FONT></U></P>  <P style="MARGIN-LEFT: 1in"><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3><SPAN   style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">- - - - - - - Appended by Advantra. - - - - - -   -<BR>This e-mail and any attachments may contain information which is   confidential, proprietary, privileged or otherwise protected by law.
