Hi,
I feel glad to know this problem has been solved.
This is just for your information.
VEE automatically detects a serial port by "Find Instruments" in
the Instrument Manager. However, VEE does not automatically
detect a instrument connected to the serial port.

array(A[0,0]/B[0], A[0,1]/B[1}... A[3,3]/B[3] ???
Can you do that, divide a 4x4 by a 4x1???? How do you get the inverse of B,
doesn't B need to be square?

Subject: [vrf] Matrices and matDivide
Hello,
I am going to use gauss elemination a two matrices (MATLAB expression X =
AB)
I have tried the built-in function MatDivide and a MATLAB Script. The input
is A(4x4 matrix) and B(4x1 matrix) and the output is X. But I can't get any
of the two methods to work.
A = [262144, 4096, 64, 1; 166375, 3025, 55, 1; 97336, 2116, 46, 1; 46656,
1296, 36, 1]
B = [70; 60; 50; 40]
X = AB
Is there anyone who has some experience in using math at matrices in Agilent
Vee?
Best regards,
Susanne Jrgensen

Oh, dude! I am pathetically poor. We're talking about *way* below poverty
here. The hardware I own is what I can scrum together out of other people's
discarded junque. My most recent box is a P3 733 and I only got that because
I traded some work for a cheap IBM refurb.
It's just that I would hate to see the death of such useful interfaces.
After all, anybody can build a serial or parallel interface (even I can do
that), but how many people can build a USB interface?
-SHAWN-
PS - to all those who have mentioned offers, no, I haven't forgotten nor am
I snubbing anybody, I just want to stick to my end-of-summer deadline for
reevaluation. Even though it's starting to look like that's a really big
mistake

What model PCs do you have living at your place? All of mine contain
both a parallel port and serial port, this one has two USB 1.1 ports,
on its back. The legacy IO ports, parallel and serial are being
discontinued in favor of just USB. Of course I'd have to bug Dell
about it, since I now specify all Dell machines for my clients.

laptop (for work) a few weeks ago, and was alarmed that the serial port was
not available without a docking station. PCMCIA serial cards were not
avaiable, but for $19 I got a USB to serial converter/cable - and it looked
JUST like a COM port to IO Config and to VEE.

That's the way the laptop crowd is moving towards. I don't know if it
will effect the desk computer market though.

Most likely it will. In one word "cheaper." My home computer can
get along just fine without a serial port. But I need USB. If other
home users are like that (not needing serial) the manufacturers can save
a few $$$ by deleteing serial - and those that need serial can get the
USB adaptor. Economics says serial will go away (as a standard computer
port, maybe not as an available adaptor for instruments.)
