vrf serial

Question asked by k.alexander on Aug 3, 2004
I pretty much assumed I would always have a serial port, but got a new
laptop (for work) a few weeks ago, and was alarmed that the serial port was
not available without a docking station.  PCMCIA serial cards were not
avaiable, but for $19 I got a USB to serial converter/cable -  and it looked
JUST like a COM port to IO Config and to VEE.

Hello from Gregg C Levine
You said, " I sincerely hope we never see the death of the simple PC
serial and parallel ports."
What model PCs do you have living at your place? All of mine contain
both a parallel port and serial port, this one has two USB 1.1 ports,
on its back. The legacy IO ports, parallel and serial are being
discontinued in favor of just USB. Of course I'd have to bug Dell
about it, since I now specify all Dell machines for my clients.
