vrf FW: Error 811

Question asked by vpetrone on Aug 10, 2004
Hello VRF,

I found the solution to the error 811 problem stated below.  I thought I
should share the solution since someday it might affect one of you.  The
solution was of course a simple one.  I had to download an update for the
driver of the Keithley KPCI-488 GPIB board that I am using.  Once I
installed it, there were no problems.  Thanks to all who responded for my
request for help.

Subject: [vrf] Error 811

Greetings,

I have acquired a new and very fast computer to develop my VEE programs.  It
is a Pentium 4 processor 2.8 GHz with 1 GB RAM versus Pentium 3 processor
450 MHz with 768 MB RAM  The problem is that I now get an error 811 with
programs that we running fine on the older machine.  The error 811 states
the following.

HP VEE Run Time Error
I/O error or timeout occurred
Attempted to write 6 bytes, actually wrote 3 bytes
In Transaction number 1
Object title Agilent_8714ET(@1416)
Object type Direct I/O
Error number 811

I am sending a *IDN? in transaction number 1 to an Agilent 8714ET network
analyzer.  I am using VEE 5.01 with MS Windows XP.  I was using Windows 98
SE with no problems.  I have seen this before several years ago but I can't
seem to recall the cause.  I know one of you has surely dealt with this also
and would enjoy sharing the fix with me.

Thanks for any help,
