vrf Error 811

Question asked by VRFuser on Aug 10, 2004
How long is your time-out?  Also are you sure the device is communicating,
i.e. connections ok, in remote, etc.  I/O config ok?

It sounds like the device @1416 does not hear the PC.  Make sure the data
rates are compatible.

Also, looking at your set-up, everything looks ok, however, with faster and
modern computers, it is best to update the software and make sure the
software supports your machine.  I don't think VEE 5.01 is young enough and
98 ?? ...  So suggest VEE7 with XP if all else fails.

Subject: [vrf] Error 811

Greetings,

I have acquired a new and very fast computer to develop my VEE programs.  It
is a Pentium 4 processor 2.8 GHz with 1 GB RAM versus Pentium 3 processor
450 MHz with 768 MB RAM  The problem is that I now get an error 811 with
programs that we running fine on the older machine.  The error 811 states
the following.

HP VEE Run Time Error
I/O error or timeout occurred
Attempted to write 6 bytes, actually wrote 3 bytes In Transaction number 1
Object title Agilent_8714ET(@1416) Object type Direct I/O Error number 811

I am sending a *IDN? in transaction number 1 to an Agilent 8714ET network
analyzer.  I am using VEE 5.01 with MS Windows XP.  I was using Windows 98
SE with no problems.  I have seen this before several years ago but I can't
seem to recall the cause.  I know one of you has surely dealt with this also
and would enjoy sharing the fix with me.

Thanks for any help,
