expert built for me such:
First table has header data describing the test data records, i.e.. Unit
under test, serial, date, etc. Within this record is a "field" that is an
auto-number(integer) that is used as a "link" into the data table. Hence
each record within the data table has this link, we call the data link field
within the data table "ULINK", note also that you may continue, ad
infinitum, by placing another link into this record to point to items within
another table.
(Also within the dB, when looking at the first table, there is a drop down
for all records reporting to the table. You will need to ask a DB guy how
he did this, if you pressure me, I'll get it for you.)
Get it?

Subject: [vrf] Declaring variables
Hi all,
I have a problem here. How do I declare a variable in such a way: I need a
Record that contains other Records. Topmost would be TstRslt record which
contains the following fields: TstStpPath, SavPath, SMUData, VMUData, Temp.
SMUData and VMUData are records containing Voltage and Current. Voltage and
Current are two 1D arrays containing an arbitrary amount of data, depending
on the user test performed and may contain from 100 to 5000 points of data.
Trouble is, I cannot create Records within Records, the field type doesnt
allow me to select Record. Nor can I leave the array size variable. It
always has a predetermined size which I dont need.
Finally, would it be easier to implement this in VEE, or am I better off
just dumping everything into excel as I read them from the instrument, adn
readback from excel later on?
Thx.

The suit and tie impression is from years back. There was a HP Vee 5 (or was it even 4?) presentation in Nokia R&D Salo (in Finland) and the HP guys have a Black suits, bright white shirts and a very formal ties.
Granted that they looked really uncomfortable in them
Nice to see that you still have the "real men" cubicles. That has a high walls & small doorway. We are forced to to use these winpy (human touch interiors designer) positions with "see over" walls and a wide open corridors. Takes lot of time to modify these with cardboard boxes etc stuff.
Good to see people that have fun in their work! I am very ancious to see if there going to be similar attempt from Rohde & Schwarz... Or NI... Perhaps this video is a going to start a whole new era in product presentations?

Hi Tapio and vrf,
Thanks for the candid review. We always want to hear both the good and the bad. We're glad you found it good.

It's been quite a while since I've seen a tie around here, and ages since I've seen a suit. A tie wouldn't go well with the bright yellow and blue Hawaiian shirt I'm wearing right now, nor the shorts (my sandals have been retired, so I'm wearing sneakers till I get a replacement pair). Hawaiian shirts are usually worn on Fridays here, even in winter (specially in winter!), old tradition, but since I'm taking the day off tomorrow it's a virtual Friday for me today. Hooray!
By the way, most of the scenes in the video were shot right near my cube (Nic's remote now). The battered CRT was in an adjacent cube. This is really us and where we work, not as pretty as you might think, but that's not what matters. And we manage to have fun AND do our jobs anyway.
No, we're not a bunch of Pod People.
Best Regards,
Scott "Big Kahuna" Bayes
