I remember this subject discussed as "Parallel port control in VEE".
Mr. Ashley **** gave the follwing solution:

Can I assume you mean that you wish to Peek Poke the parallel port?
Attached is a stripped down VEE example which reads the Games Port
using PEEK POKE. You will need the necessary PeekPoke files from
the Agilent site to run this.
My application used Win2k and hence the need to run
'giveio'.- Which SHAW and Co helped me with. If you are using
Win 98 or ME then it is much simpler - just follow the
instructions given in the DOC file provided with the PeekPoke files.
You would need to change to the correct address of the parallel port
and use the 'writebyte' function if poking values.
