Not exactly following this ... what are you displaying the data values in?
If you are using an Alphanumeric, just go to the object menu, select
"Edit Properties -> Number", disable "Global Format", specify Decimal /
Fixed / 3 Fractional Digits.

If you have some more subtle problem in mind, let us know, I am sure we can
find a way to skin this cat.
