Sir:

I suggest you run the values through a To String before loading them into
the List object.  You will need to have a separate transaction in the To
String to format each array element in a Scientific format:

   WRITE TEXT a[0] REAL SCI:2 EOL
   WRITE TEXT a[1] REAL SCI:2 EOL
   ...
