Check the port setting and termination character under "Advance I/O
Configuration".  The default terminating character is "
".

Using "Instrument Manager", "My Configuration", "Refresh" did in fact show
serial1 and serial2, and since then we no longer get an error message about
"...not configured...Error 801", but we still have no serial communication
using HP VEE. However, we know the ports are OK because using LabView we
can establish serial communications without any problem (using a motion
control package). Any further suggestions are greatly welcome.
Thanks,
Allison
