We are trying to do similar things. But we want to redirect the
outputstring from an Instrument driver to the "to/from socket" to a
remote system which will put it on an I/O port eg. RS232 or GPIB. Is
this possible or is this just wishfull thinking ?

PS: We know that HP is selling a LAN connection. But this is not what we
want, because we do have our own specific I/O cards.
