Vrf-Serial Communications to external switch.
27th November 1996.
HP-VEE Users,
I am writing a program to measure the resistivity of a thin film as the temperature is reduced.....part of this program involves the use of a relay switch,
which must be operated during the loop of the HPVee program. Therefore, I would like to do this using the I/O routines incorporated in HPVee. My idea
is to use one of the com ports of the computer as the link to the switch circuit. By configuring a direct I/O object for serial communications, I can send a
logical high signal to the switch via a serial link by using the command EXECUTE BREAK. I think this should be enough to throw the switch.
I would be grateful if anyone could point out any flaws in this plan, or indeed if they know of an alternative solution to this problem, I'd like to hear it! I am
using HPVee Version 3.0 on a 386 computer, using Windows 3.1.
Thanks! (in advance),
Martin McCurry.
