vrf Solution: dial up connection and vee

We have done this successfully in the past (older PC's) but could not
do it on our latest 400MHz HP Vectra VLi8 using an 8 port PCI serial card
from Black Box.
We set the port to "No Handshaking', then as soon as we set either RTS or DTR
and try to TX or RX we get various errors (e.g. SICL call made with bad
parameters,
timeout on a send, tiemout on receive even with data coming inno the hardware
and
then the majestic BIG RED BOX when we foolishly attempt to "Execute Reset").
We came up with one work around using a second port to switch
RTS & DTR only while doing RX & TX from the first port. This works reliably as
long as the second port is never reset.

If there are any other solutions out there, I'd like to hear them too.

Is it possible to set the pins RTS and DTR of the serial COM2 port to
high and low respectively while writing and reading COM2 with an HP
Vee-program?
