vrf Access/DAO OutputTo

Question asked by VRFuser on Nov 16, 1999
I liked the way OutputTo did the transformation because it preserved
hyperlinks and formatted everything correctly. If I read it to a text file
the hyperlinks are formatted by access as
NameofHyperlink#Relativepath     ohyperlink#
So the hyperlink is destroyed. And <CR> <LF> are scattered all over. I don't
want to have to re-process every record with VEE.

If I write a Macro in the database that calls the OutputTo action can I get
that macro to execute from DAO somehow. Or set the Macro to run
automatically when the database is opened. I need some work around.

The DAO library does not support that kind of conversion.  What you can do
is use the getrows dao function to retreive your data into an array.  Then
use VEE to output the array to a tab or comma delimited text file.  This
works great and excel or anything else reads it quite nicely.  In fact, the
delimited text files end up being much smaller than the excel files.

Subject: vrf Access/DAO OutputTo

I want to write my access record out to an Excel file like when you click
Tools=>Office Links=> Analyze with MSExcel

I can do it with the Access 8.0 Automation Server DoCmd.OutputTo() function,
but I want to do it with DAO library. It seems I can use the connect
property, but the VB documentation references parameters like
ODBC;
DATABASE=database;
UID=user;
PWD=password;
DSN= datasourcename;
[LOGINTIMEOUT=seconds;]

I can't figure out how to get this to work in VEE.

Does anyone else know how to use DAO to Export a table to EXCEL?
This is my first experience with Access and DAO and so far it's a real pain
in the you know what.
