FW: PCMCIA cards

Question asked by VRFuser on Sep 18, 1997
Dear Stan,

We at ComputerBoards have recently released a new family of GPIB cards
for the PCI, PC-104, ISA, and PCMCIA bus architectures.

Our PCM-GPIB card is an IEEE-488.2 Talker/Listener/Controller
Interface with a transfer rate greater than 1 Mbyte/Sec.  The PCM-GPIB
card sells for $299 and includes a GPIB cable and GPIB LIBRARY
software.  The GPIB LIBRARY includes full support for HP-VEE along
with many DOS and Windows programming languages including C, BASIC,
VISUAL BASIC, DELPHI and PASCAL.

If you provide me with a mailing address, I will forward our GPIB
catalog out to you immediately.

Best Regards,
Bill Kennedy

Both the National Instruments and INES cards work OK for many users
around here in
HP and Toshiba laptops of various flavors. The NI card is relatively
difficult to
install but is fine otherwise. The INES card installs easily but
doesn't seem to
show up in the instrument finder.

I don't have any particular preference between the two.

Also, so far as I know these are the only two alternatives.

Hello Stan,

I am sending out our full catalog which lists all our boards and
software.

The card which would satisfy most of your application would be the
PCM-D24C3 board.  This board has 24 digital I/O lines along with 3 16
bit counters.  The Universal Library which we ship for free with this
board contains driver support for HP VEE and many programming
languages (C, BASIC, PASCAL, DELPHI, etc.)

We have Win95 drivers available now.  At this time, WinNT drivers are
not released.  (Unfortunately I do not have a release date at this
time.)

The PCM-D24C3 board sells for $149.

Hi Bill

Since we are talking about PCMCIA solutions:

I am quite interested in finding a general purpose digital I/O
card. I believe that you folks make several, but don't have too many
details.

What I need is

PCMCIA
16 or more (24 would be good) bidirectional channels for data
a few control lines that can be used for strobes

needs drivers for WIN95 / NT4.0

and I need drivers for HP VEE, or at least C source that I can
compile into dll's for use with VEE.

Do you have anything that meets these needs?

thanks

Stan

Great- as long as NT is coming, the exact timing isn't critical.

That card does indeed sound ideal for our needs.

Do I order direct from you or via distributors?

Stan
