VRf-Serial_Mux

Question asked by VRFuser on Jun 15, 1997

We are doing this using a Central Data SCSI terminal server. It gives us
8 serial ports via the SCSI bus. Our machine is an HP 745I running
HP UX 9.x.

We wrote a shared library to allow VEE to control the termio settings
although
you can set them from the O.S. and just use VEE for I/O. Our library also
handles some special communications protocols which were a bit slow for
VEE to handle ( e.g. computing CRCs ).

The following man pages will be very useful:
termiox (7), termio (7), open (2), ioctl (5) & (2), modem (7), write (2),
read (2),
tccontrol (3C), mknod (1M) [this creates the /dev/serialXX device I/O
files,
close (2), cfspeed (3C), tcattribute (3C)

The following system include files are also very useful:
termios.h, termio.h, modem.h, ioctl.h, stat,h, mknod.h, errno.h

I imagine this would work just about the same for an 8-port EISA RS-232
multiplexer.
