Hi all,
My basic system is two PC's, PC1 & PC2, each has a NI GPIB card. Both are
on ethernet. I want to remotely control from PC2 a mechanical motor which
is connected to PC1 via GPIB. I tried configuring the motor using a
gateway, but when I used it I got this error message "Remote Access is not
supported using NI HP-IB". Am I doing something wrong???, or am I just
stuck because this operation is simply not supported on NI card. Do I need
a new driver for the card??
Thanks for all responses,

Sandra,
If you are using VEE or any other language that uses SICL this should be straightforward. On PC2 configure as a LAN client (depending on version this is done under SICL config or HP I/O libraries-IO config). On PC1 configure as a LAN server, then start the service manager (depending on version this is called siclland.exe or sm.exe).
Once configured you can define PC1 as the gateway to the motor using the VEE instrument manager on PC2 instead of "local host".
Hope this helps,
