Hi,
We have a problem in iccap linux 2006. When we do simulations, iccap fills up the /tmp directory. After a certain amount of files in the directory, it fails to continue. The debugger complains about having too many links in the directory.
My question, is there an option where iccap can clear up the tmp files after the simulation is done?
For example, the tmp directory might get filled up with one run on the optimizer with a lot of plots in it. As a result the optimizer fails to give a result because of this error and the overnight optimizing would be useless.
For now, our fix is just to manually delete the iccap simulation files in the /tmp directory.
Thanks.

Steve Wong

This sounds somewhat unusual, so we would suggest that if possible, you contact:
Agilent EEsof Technical Support ([email:1xbiyvng]eesof_support@agilent.com[/email:1xbiyvng]), because the typical behavior is that IC-CAP uses the tmp directory for dynamic storage and then cleans it up upon exit. There could be files left there with a non-graceful exit. It would be unusual for the tmp directory to fill up during a session as a result of simulation.
(It is recommended 'best practices' to periodically check whichever /tmp directory IC-CAP is using, and make sure no unwanted files remain there.)
Files from IC-CAP put in the tmp directory (/var/tmp
or /tmp e.g. env TEMP or TMP) that start with IC* should generally only be removed when there are no active IC-CAP sessions running. To remove files from the tmp directory while sessions are running could result in a loss of data/info to the files being used in the active IC-CAP session.
We have some questions:
1. which simulator are you using?
2. what files are left in the tmp directory?
3. is there anything unique about your simulation, i.e that 'extra output' is being requested via some simulation options or #echo etc.?
Please contact us and we will be glad to help further.
Best Regards
