Serial timeout bug(?)

Question asked by bwalden on Aug 16, 1999
Hi folks,

The more I work with HPVee serial I/O the less I like it.  I did a
little experiment to see what a Direct I/O object does with a timeout
value of zero.  My experience shows that a zero timeout value means the
port never times out and will wait for a "Read Terminator"
indefinately.  This would be OK except other independent threads do not
run and the program cannot be stopped without help from the Task Manager
unless you can input the expected Read Termination character via the
serial port.

Ugh!
