I have experience with VEE (5.01) and HP-IB but not with RS-232. Recently
downloaded a document (RS-232 Troubleshooting) from HP's ftp site (address
was given before by Greg). Other than that I found a small example in the
Notebook (Chapter 7 - Direct I/O).
I need more input from kind VRf users who has experience with VEE and RS-232
(serial). These inputs can be various small examples, the RS-232 cable type
(if a specific one is required), the com port settings in the computer
(which one should be used - COM1, COM2 etc), and the setup in the VEE I/O
window (including instrument finder). Right now, I see the interface number
9 in my I/O window and got confused when one user recently posted that he
got a configuration error as such: "Serial Interface, at 9, is not
configured for this system". If it is not 9, should it be replaced with
something else (like the com port number on the PC)? Why it did install "9"
when I configured the I/O libraries. I will first try to access to HP75000
B size mainframe and read the temperatures from Hpe1347 via the internal DVM
Hpe1326 (currently I am doing this via HP-IB - now wants to test the same
thing with RS-232 before attacking the real problem).
Any help will greatly be appreciated. Thank you for your precious time.
