vrf Controlling a power supply

Question asked by VRFuser on Mar 3, 2000
I'm using an EW801 and I use

"VOLT 24"
"FREQ 60"
"OUTP ON"

It is important to know that the sense lines must be attached. This does not
work like the HP supplies, where you have to enable remote sensing. It is
sensing by default. I had trouble too, so I called Elgar on the phone and
had their "Help" person try and help me and they told me it was bad, send it
back. Then they put little peices of metal between line and line sense and
so on, and told me they ought to charge me, but wouldn't. That was sort of
an embarrassment, but hey, that's what support is for. To work out the
oversights on the phone without shipping a 100 lb. supply that's perfectly
good back and forth.

I am attempting to use an Elgar 501SL AC power supply with a 9012
programmable module in VEE 5.0.
Using the Device Manager, I have created a marginally useful direct I/O
object to represent it.  It will successfully open and close an output relay
and toggle the associated indicator light using text commands "OPN" and
"CLS".

What is not working is setting the voltage.  The manual lists simple
commands like "VOLTS 100", but it will not respond.  The manual also states
that the numeric part of the command must be expressed as a floating point.
How should the properties of the transactions be set?
